January 2019

So it is September and I am just getting around to updating this blog. I have considered stopping blogging but now it sort of functions like a journal of Sophia growing up. Documenting the things we do every month and watching her grow as she experiences things is enjoyable for me, if not for anyone else. I am keeping copying these posts and creating a PDF of them so she has them to look back on when she is grown. Til then I will continue to document as times seems to pass quicker with each passing year.

We got some snow in January. We got over 10 inches and had a blast playing in it. Sophia played with a friend and Steve and I took a walk in the snow. I love the snow, hate the cold but love the snow. I wish we got more storms like this. It would make putting up with the cold more bearable.

Sophia got her hair cut this month. It has been a while and she got quite a bit taken off.
Steve celebrate his birthday. I won't tell anyone how old he is (55!)
Sophia was selected to sing in a joint middle school/high school chorus. It was held at a local high school which has students gets students from her middle school. It is not the high school she will go to but she loves to sing and decided to be involved. It was held one day after school, they practiced together, enjoyed some pizza and then put on a concert for parents. It was a good opportunity for Sophia to see what a high school music program looks like. She had fun, of course. She loves trying new things.
Sophia rode in another Interschool Horse Show Series show. She did amazing again. Hopping on a horse she doesn't know and getting into the ring to be judged doesn't intimidate her at all. So proud of her riding skills and her confidence in her skills. She makes me so proud (as if you couldn't tell)

She did a Pony Club Clinic with Kim Cranford. It was a clinic to set goals for the year. She worked on some flat work on George. She and Kate were in the clinic together. The clinician told them both that if they continued their work they could likely qualify for champs which are held in the summer each year. This year they would be in Tryon, NC. That is all she needed to hear. Goals were set and seven months later they were reached. You will have to wait until I blog July to read all the details!

Our animals are all doing well. Mr. Twinkletoes and Gracie are best buds. Steve has taught Otto to ride his shoulders in the backyard. Otto loves going outside but isn't allowed... unless he is on Steve's shoulders.
