June was an exciting month. It feels like things are slowly getting back to pre-Covid "normal." Some restrictions are lifting and I finally got to see my family.
Sophia competed in Ride For Life this year. She did this in 2019 with Lucy. 2020 cancelled. She was thrilled to bring Nicki this year. She rode training level 1 and Level 1-test 1 as well as her musical. She did really on Level 1, test 1 with a score of 64.310. This is her first score for a Bronze Medal in dressage. Her musical earned a 62.833 and 65.333. She entered a money class and won first prize for Training 1 with a score of 68.654 but found out they don't give money prizes to minors. She was bummed.
In addition to these regular rides she competed in a musical freestyle fundraiser where she rode her Grease musical again. This time she was able to wear her costume seeing it isn't officially part of the recognized show. Nicki loves this musical almost as much as Sophia does.
The best part of the weekend show was the money raised for breast cancer. Sophia brought in over $900 and was the top youth fundraiser for the second time. She created a ribbon for each person who donated and asked them who they were riding in memory of or honor of. So glad this money is going to breast cancer research. Breast cancer is a nasty disease which is taking far too many, far too young.
I flew down to see my brother in Florida. Linda and her girls joined us. Tracey wasn't able to make it because she was helping Gianna settle in for her new job in Denver. We had a blast touring Cape Coral, going out on George's boat, seeing Tracey's mom for a cook out and playing Rummikub at night. I got beat every time but will practice until I see them again. I will win!
It was so nice to spend time with Linda and George. I wish we could see each other more often.
